WFA gives global context to Slovakian advertising self-regulation workshop
02.06.2009
On 2 June 2009, WFA spoke at a workshop in Slovakia on responsible marketing communication in the sectors of food, non-alcoholic drinks, spirits and beer. The workshop was co-hosted by a coalition of the Slovak Food Chamber, Rada pre reklamu (The Slovak Advertising Standards Council) and SabMiller Slovakia. It aimed to help promote the work on advertising self-regulation currently being championed by local industry.
In recent weeks the coalition has worked on ensuring the revision of the "Advertising Act" that would completely ban alcohol advertising in Slovakia. Its goal for the future is to evolve the communication with the government around self-regulatory issues.
WFA set out the global marketer perspective towards self-regulation and explained where the major developments and debates around food/alcohol advertising self-regulation are currently taking place, recognising the important work that local stakeholders in Slovakia have achieved.
